Toolbox Font and Lets Play Collaboration
I created 'Toolbox' font in font lab as the branding for collaboration project 'Let's Play' with designer/illustrator Aimee Caine. The project fit the brief for one of Aimee's projects; to make something for the children's section in the Conran Shop, we decided to collaborate and share our knowledge.
'Let's Play' is a series of flat-pack wooden houses and roofs that can be stacked and placed on top of the home's furniture. The pieces encourage children to use the whole house as their playground. Children are also encouraged to incorporate their existing toys with the 'Let's Play' pack, bringing a new lease of life to previously redundant toys. The 'Let's Play' pack encourages imagination, creativity, and sustainability.
Children's toys are often made from cheap plastic, which breaks easily and only captures children's attention for a short amount of time before becoming redundant. We wanted to tackle this through our product - creating a toy that encourages imagination while being environmentally friendly. Thus 'Let's Play' was born.
The project also included dedicated research to see if any other designers were forming similar learning ideas through play. See the last five images above.
We also had assistance with creating the moving animation from illustrator Ruby Martin.
